Beloved Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
American entertainer Finn, who featured in beloved television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer since 2022, per news outlets.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a message.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series over nearly a decade.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.
Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
