Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
