LBJ's Historic Point-Scoring Streak Ends, But Los Angeles Claim Triumph Over Toronto.
LeBron James was aware his monumental streak of scoring in double figures was in danger. When it mattered most, though, he wasn't bothered.
The right decision was to pass the basketball – and he executed. Following that play, the unprecedented record was over.
LeBron's astounding run of over 1,200 straight regular-season outings scoring at least ten ended on Thursday night, as the league's career points king was limited to a mere eight points in the Los Angeles Lakers' 123-120 victory over Toronto. He delivered the game-winning assist, setting up Rui Hachimura for a triple to win the game.
“Zero,” James stated in response regarding the conclusion of his run. “We won.”
An Unselfish Decision Delivers the Game
He might have sought to clinch the game – and preserved the streak – on the final possession, but he chose to pass to Rui stationed in the corner. Rui connected, with LeBron celebrated immediately.

The Streak's Closing Chapter
He returned to the floor for the final time with under five and a half minutes to go, the win and his personal record both hanging in the balance. His tally was six points from a 3-for-15 performance by that point.
He managed a basket at 1:46 left to level the contest and missed a mid-range jumper at one minute to go which could have taken him to double digits.
He didn’t take another shot – even though he had a chance. A teammate passed him the ball with a few seconds left, but James opted to make the extra pass instead of shooting.

The History of a Staggering Record
James's streak began on Jan. 6, 2007. It was, by far the most extended double-digit streak the league has ever seen: His Airness, Michael Jordan previously held a streak of 866 consecutive double-digit scoring games, Kareem recorded 787 such games, and Karl Malone recorded with 575.

However, two of those unusual single-digit games through three quarters had happened in the last week: He had nine going into the fourth versus the Mavericks on 28 November, and then had six points going into the fourth versus the Suns earlier in the week.
LeBron was able to preserve the record against the Suns. The very next outing, it finished – yet he was celebrating anyway.
