President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Military Members to the White House
President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Vigils across the state have been held in their honor.
White House Invitation
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”
Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Government Revisions
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The incident led the government to pause asylum applications and cease granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
