Supporters Demand Arrest of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who jumped a barrier and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Grande's Well-being
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said another message on Instagram.
Some attendees also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part version of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The show itself is a spin-off of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
