Ukrainian Forces Begins Large-Scale Manufacturing of Novel Defensive Drones
Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven getting ready to set up production lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.
'Octopus' Technology Proven in Combat Conditions
The drones will be based on a nationally created technology called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and proved effective “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 defensive drones daily.
Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate
Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” after six people lost their lives and many others wounded in a series of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital just after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.
Zelenskyy stated the nation was targeted by 430 drones and multiple missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in an apartment building on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.
Diplomatic Objection After Embassy Destruction
The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday after the embassy damage. An explosion from a Moscow's missile destroyed part of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused serious damage to the diplomatic compound, officials from Baku stated. There were no personnel was hurt, and an official representative said the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.
Moscow's Glide Bomb Production Experiences Major Expansion
Moscow intends to produce as many as 120,000 glide bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, including 500 of a new, longer-range version that can reach additional urban centers. Moscow's military were firing hundreds of aerial bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage being approximately 170, based on official military statistics.
Ukrainian Attacks Target Moscow's Energy Infrastructure
Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”
Ukrainian forces separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels overnight.
International Sanctions Impact Moscow's Oil Producer
The number two energy company Lukoil said on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its international holdings following last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil stated.
Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spain
The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with parliament members following his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. Zelenskyy would meet representatives from all houses of the legislature during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
